This Convention declares that every pensioner has the right to choice, dignity, independence and security as an integral and valued member of society.  These rights require an adequate state pension linked to average earnings, comprehensive free health care and concessionary travel on public transport

State Pension 2007
The basic state pension will rise by 3.6% in April 2007 in line with the September 2006 Retail Price Index figure. This will give an increase of £3 a week for a single pensioner and £4.85 for a couple, raising the basic state pension to £87.25 a week for a single pensioner and £139.60 for a couple
