Do you care about climate change and the environment? Do you think more should be done about it?
Why not join NPC members at the UK’s biggest environmental lobby of Parliament in London on Wednesday 9th July.
More than 3,500 people from 500 UK constituencies have already signed up to travel to the ‘Act Now Change Forever’ Mass Lobby of MPs organised by The Climate Change Coalition (TCC).
But if the cost of travelling to London is a stumbling block, as it is for many of us right now, the good news is TCC can get help pay for your transport costs!
NPC will have a stand in the QEII Hall – one of three main venues near Parliament - from 9.30am to 4.30pm, which will feature talks and presentations, music and celebrations, as well as information stalls throughout the day. The World Wildlife Fun (WWF) UK is also going to lead hourly nature walks around Westminster.
The sessions for people to meet their MPs to discuss environmental issues will be held in three dedicated venues - in the Methodist Central Hall, Smiths Square and the Palace of Westminster - you will find out the one assigned to your MP when you register (see link below).
Research by The Climate Coalition of organisations and charities concerned about the environment has found that climate change is no longer a niche issue – it is a major concern for people of all ages and backgrounds. The ’Act Now Change Forever’ lobby gives us all a chance to meet our MPs to press for more government action on conserving our precious environment. TCC is asking MPs to back bold, practical action by committing to:
· Vital funding for communities hit hardest by climate change;
· Cutting bills, backing UK jobs, to secure a greener fairer future for all;
· Restoring nature to create a safer, healthier future.
The programme for the Mass Lobby is outlined below. When you register to attend, TCC will send you full details, explaining how to invite your MP for a meeting; times to attend; and key accessibility and security information.
There will also be a Mass Lobby picture opportunity in Parliament Square at 11.30am— you can get details of how to be in the picture when you arrive.
You can register to go along to the event without arranging to meet your MP. But if you would like to and want more guidance on how to discuss the issues, TCC have information webinars online.
