It is with deep sadness that we have learned of the passing of NPC Honorary Vice President Peter Rayner.

Peter, 91, was a NPC founding member alongside his friend, fellow trade unionist, and our founder Jack Jones. A dedicated campaigner for older people’s rights, Peter was a highly respected expert on the transport sector following a distinguished career in the rail industry.

Aside from many years as a member of our Transport Working Party, Peter served in virtually every senior capacity within the NPC where his wise counsel was deeply valued.

Revered by his  many friends and colleagues, Peter will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife Wendy and son Chris, to whom we send our sincere condolences.

NPC will be issuing more on Peter’s life and distinguished career in the coming days. We thank all those friends and colleagues who have already sent messages of condolence, and will pass them onto his family.
