Warm This Winter - 03.12.22

Worried about the rocketing cost of heating your home this Winter? Make your voice heard and join the End Fuel Poverty Coalition’s Day of Action in towns and cities across the UK, Saturday 3rd December.

NPC General Secretary Jan Shortt will address the Coalition’s central London Warm This Winter mass rally by Parliament Square, Westminster on Saturday morning. But our members will be out in force across the country - alongside the other 40 organisations that make up the Coalition - to protest at the huge increase in people who can no longer afford to heat their homes.

Demand to be Warm This Winter at mass protests against fuel poverty - Saturday, 3rd December

Jan said: “No one should be living in fuel poverty. We're rallying in London and in towns and cities across the UK to demand that everyone is #WarmThisWinter… and the next.

Without immediate action, 7 million households are facing fuel poverty this winter – and that number could rise by up to 8.6 million after the price guarantee goes up again in April.

“NPC members are already planning to support the protests on 3rd December, so we hope you can join us in London or your own town or city, because this intolerable fuel price crisis cannot be allowed to go on. We demand to be Warm this Winter.”

Jan will be among a number of public figures and politicians speaking at the Warm this Winter rally which gathers from 10.30am at The Methodist Central Hall Westminster, Storey's Gat,e London SW1H 9NH.

There will be teas and coffees served in the hall, and an Exhibition of testimonies by people about their own energy crisis stories, as well as the screening of a short Greenpeace film about the issue.

People will be invited to help with a Scarf-Knotting to knot together 100+ orange scarves into one big one for a photo demo at Parliament Square at 11am.

Everyone will then gather in Parliament Square at 11.30am with banners, placards, and the newly knotted giant scarf to wrap around everybody for a mass rally and further speeches.
