Your chance to join a Mass Lobby of MPs to act now on climate change crisis

If you are concerned about climate change you have a unique opportunity to join the biggest environmental lobby of Parliament on Wednesday 9th July.

The Climate Change Coalition (TCC), which includes a wide range of charities and organisations including the NPC, is inviting thousands of people from across the UK to come together in Westminster to demand urgent action on the climate crisis.

The ‘Act Now, Change Forever’ lobby ‘for people, climate and nature’ aims to show the new government that the call for a fairer, greener future is loud, clear, and rooted in every part of society.

Remember: you MUST register to take part

A Mass Lobby is when lots of people arrange to meet their MPs on the same day to have powerful conversations on the issues they care about.  A TCC lobby of the previous government in 2019 attracted 12,000 people to Westminster, and they are aiming to better that on 9th July.

NPC’s Climate Change Working Party is already discussing how they might become involved in the lobby and will report back with proposals for members shortly.

To find out more meantime, you can register interest here: www.theclimatecoalition.org/act-now-change-forever

Please note you cannot attend the lobby on the day without registering your interest first.

TCC will also be holding information webinars for those wishing to attend over the coming weeks – once you register you will be sent more details.

TCC is asking MPs to back bold, practical action by committing to:

  • Deliver vital funding to communities hit hardest by climate change here and around the world.

  • Cut bills, back UK jobs, and secure a greener fairer future for all

  • Restore nature to create a safer, healthier future

TCC say these themes are grounded in policy research and community priorities, and reflect the kind of changes that are both broadly and deeply supported by the public, as well as politically achievable.

A TCC spokesperson said: “Our MPs have an opportunity to protect what matters most here in the UK and around the world – from our green spaces,  our rivers, and woodlands, to our health, our communities and our future. We can shape a better tomorrow – together.  If you care about the world around you – and the people in it – showing up on 9th July can make a real difference.

“You don’t need to be a campaigner, or to have met your MP before, or have even spoken about climate or nature. We have an opportunity to come together for a healthier, safer, fairer, greener future for generations to come around the world. The future we build together is the legacy we leave behind.”

While climate and nature were big issues during the election, TCC say we’ve already seen some promises rolled back. That’s why it wants to remind MPs what really matters by encouraging people to meet face-to-face with their MPs to shape policies and build long-term relationships.

The Climate Coalition (TCC) is the UK’s largest climate action network, representing more than 140 organisations and reaching over 20 million people. It unites voices across sectors—faith, youth, nature, health, business, and beyond— and includes: Christian Aid, Climate Outreach, CAFOD, Co-op, Faith for the Climate, Friends of the Earth, Groundwork UK, Hope for the Future, Islamic Relief UK, National Trust, Oxfam, Parents for Future UK, RSPB, The WI, Save the Children, UK  Health Alliance on Climate Change, Uplift, Woodland Trust, WWF-UK—and many more.
