One year on: the impact of COVID-19 on the lives of people approaching later life

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a huge impact on our lives – on individuals and society as a whole. The cumulative effect of the disease and the lockdowns used to counter it has been to exacerbate the already substantial inequality that exists in people’s health, working lives and sense of community belonging, while highlighting the shortcomings of the homes that we live in.

At the start of the pandemic, we commissioned research across all our areas of work (health, housing, work and communities) to look at the impact of COVID-19 on people approaching later life. In this webinar we presented the findings of that research, painting a picture of the collective experiences of people aged 50-70 in England over the past year.
