The Rights of Older People in the UK

The COVID-19 pandemic and the current cost of living crisis have exacerbated existing inequalities, intensifying the socioeconomic, environmental, health and climate related impacts on the lives of older persons, especially older women and people from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups.


Poverty Pensioner poverty is rising. People are having to choose between 'Eating or Heating'.


Rights Age is a protected characteristic under the Equalities Act, so why are we not being listened to?


Services Services are disappearing and many that do exist are not accessible or working well.

Agree with everything highlighted in this document . A Commissioner for older people like they have in Wales is a priority ASAP to represent the ageing population at Government level . The pledge to pay the triple lock payment in April 2023 is of course welcome but does nothing in the long term to address the UK,s woefully low OAP payments which is way behind many other countries and has been for many years .
